The Ministry of Education and Science announced the results of the competitive selection of programs for the development of student unions of higher education institutions to be implemented in 2016.

145 out of 188 universities applying were announced winners.

Among the winners is Petrozavodsk State University with its programme of development of student organizations for 2016: "The system of comprehensive development of students, based on Russian and international best practices of scientific creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship, professional development, sport and health preservation, education of cultural values, citizenship, patriotism and spirituality."

The program will include more than 100 events, which will be attended by more than 70% of students and activists of the University. The programme activities will be focused on the development of science and innovation, intercultural dialogue, activities of student groups, academia and media structures, and others.

It should be noted that Petrozavodsk State University has been a contestant of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation since 2012 and each year if becomes the winner.

The competition of programs for development of activities of student organizations is held by the Russian Ministry in order to encourage student self-government and boost the role of the students in modernization of higher education.
