The event was also attended by the representative of the GS Nanotech (the Kaliningrad Region).

The two-day extensive program arranged for the guests included roundtable discussion and workshops on technology transfer, business and research cooperation, tours around the IT-Park with presentations of small innovative enterprises and the Nanocenter of PetrSU, as well as series of bilateral meetings and negotiations on cooperation between business and science of the two countries.

The Deputy Minister for Economic Development and Industry of the Republic of Karelia Dmitry Sergeevich Kislov welcomed the representatives of small and medium-sized enterprises of Germany. He noted that it was no coincidence that they all had met at Petrozavodsk State University, as it was the leader in innovation technologies. “PetrSU is developing a network of cooperation with international partners from the countries of Northern Europe and Asia, as well as regions of Russia. A good example is the partnership with the Kaliningrad Region. The Republic of Karelia is constantly searching for tools to support innovation technologies and development of innovative products. Since last year the Regional Integrated Center – the Republic of Karelia, established at the facilities of Petrozavodsk University, has been contributing extensively to this work.”

According to the Vice-Rector for International Affairs Marina Stanislavovna Gvozdeva this event is of utmost importance for the development of international activities of Petrozavodsk State University related to the advancement of research and innovation activities in the region. “We define the “Region” broadly: it is the North of Europe, as well as the Baltic Sea States. In this space we are looking for reliable partners in education, as well as in business, who are ready to cooperate in the field of development, research and innovation.”

One fine example is the cooperation with Offenburg University of Applied Sciences. Professor Axel Sikora has been to Petrozavodsk State University before. “I have long-term professional relations with the employees of PetrSU, most notably with Aleksey Moshchevikin and his team. Our universities also have strong ties in student exchange and research. This meeting has a great importance as we want to present our joint project. I hope that our cooperation will be just as successful in the future”.

The event was organized by the Ministry of Economic Development and Industry of the Republic of Karelia, the Regional Integrated Center – the Republic of Karelia and Petrozavodsk State University.
