Veniamin Kaganov Visited PetrSU

The Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Veniamin Kaganov visited Petrozavodsk State University during his working visit to Karelia.

The Deputy Minister of Education and Science of the Russian Federation Veniamin Kaganov visited Petrozavodsk State University during his working visit to Karelia.

At PetrSU he held a meeting with the Rector of Petrozavodsk University Anatoly Voronin, visited the Museum of Entertaining Science, research and project laboratory “Ilmarinen”, the Resource Center for Scientific and Technical Creativity of Students (RC STCS), which is currently implementing a large project on creating STEM-cluster of additional education for the children of the Republic of Karelia. The project is supported bythe Ministry of Education and Science of Russia, and is implemented jointly with the Republic’s educational institutions, as well as leading world’s IT-companies.

The Resource Center of PetrSU was created in 2015. It is fitted with the latest digital equipment that enables doing research and implementing projects in physics, chemistry, robotics, and ICT.

The Center has been successfully engaging schoolchildren in its activities. The project is aimed at developing a conceptually new cluster approach to cooperation between the university and the Republic in renewal of the content, forms and technologies of increasing interest of children and adolescents in scientific and technical creativity. It also facilitates forming necessary competencies for future work in high tech and science-intensive industries.

The employees of the university told that the resources of interactive and distance education provide an opportunity to work with children from the entire Republic.

Veniamin Kaganov suggested making a presentation of the joint project and delivering a detailed report on the practice of complex collaboration between Petrozavodsk State University, the Ministry of Education of Karelia and educational institutions aimed at improvement of additional education in the field of scientific and technical creativity.

“I have found out that the project is under way and developing. Schoolchildren from Petrozavodsk and the Republic are given a chance to implement their projects under the guidance of experienced mentors using the cutting edge technologies.  I wish you to never stop and move forward!” said Veniamin Kaganov, the Deputy Minister of Education and Science of Russia.
