The Innovation and Technology Park of PetrSU hosted the meeting of the Rector of Petrozavodsk State University Anatoly Voronin with the delegation from Fujian Province (China).

Among the participants of the meeting were the Vice-Rector for Scientific Research Vladimir Siunev, the Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs Konstantin Tarasov, the Vice-Rector for International Affairs Marina Gvozdeva, the head of the Directorate for Innovation and Production Olga Derbeneva, representatives of innovation enterprises and companies, established with participation of PetrSU, as well as the director of Petrozavodsk State Glazunov Conservatory.

The aim of the meeting was to establish friendly relations between the university and the province and discuss the prospects for cooperation in various fields.

Anatoly Voronin noted:

Today the relations between Russia and China are at a very high level, and we believe that your visit is yet another proof that the relations are actively developing. The university has had a long association with educational institutions of China. Particularly, in 2015 we signed the Agreement on Cooperation between PetrSU and the Anhui Normal University under which PetrSU held the Chinese Language Courses. Students from China come to study medicine at our university or take language courses at PetrSU. Currently young people from China study at the Institutes of Medicine and Philology, as well as at the Linguistic Center of PetrSU.

Wang Tianming, the head of the secretariat for international affairs of Fujian Province said:

Admittedly, our countries are developing relations at a high level; the heads of Russia and China have established close relations. This September our country is hosting the 9th summit of the BRICS. Our province is interested in cooperation in trade, economy, culture, and tourism both with Russia and Karelia and Petrozavodsk State University. We hope we will find ways to cooperate in the field of electronics too. We are interested in that.

The official part of the meeting was followed by the presentation of the Innovation and Technology Park of PetrSU, during which the representative of Chinese delegation learned about the work of innovation enterprises and laboratories.

At the end of the meeting the guests exchanged souvenirs and posed for a group photo.
