Prospects of Cooperation between PetrSU and Fujian Province
At the end of April, the delegation of the Republic of Karelia paid an official visit to Fujian Province of the People’s Republic of China. Among the representatives of our region was the director of the Students’ Business Incubator of Petrozavodsk State University Aleksandr Konovalov.
The visit was aimed to deepen the friendship and mutual understanding, develop business cooperation, as well as promote signing an official agreement of cooperation between the Republic of Karelia and Fujian Province. The singing will take place in September 2017 at the BRICS summit in China in Fujian Province (city of Xiamen). The agreement stipulates a wide range of activities, including cooperation in education and science. To this end, the program of the visit included an official meeting with the administration of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University. The meeting was held by the rector of the university Lan Siren and his deputy Zeng Huaping.
The participants of the meeting discussed the participation of Chinese students in academic programs, with the right to receive both the diploma of Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University and PetrSU diploma. The discussion also focused on the exchange programs, international schools, implementing joint research and applied projects. Besides that, Russian delegation was presented the high technology projects implemented at the premises of the university in the fields of genetic engineering, showcasing the involvement of the students at all stages of producing an innovative project, from research to manufacturing the end product.
Among other places visited by the delegation were the Corporation of Investments and Development of Fujian Province, as well as several technology companies of the Province: one of the largest companies of virtual reality Wanglong, Guanlin Technology Company producing video house intercom, and Keren Biotechnology organization involved in growing and deep processing mushrooms on an industrial scale.
By the results of the official visit, the parties will form working groups that will develop the details in every area of cooperation.
The unofficial part of the program featured a visit to the architectural ensemble of the Qin and Ming dynasties in the city of Fuzhou, and the Tulou, inscribed by the UNESCO as World Heritage Site.
