The Flagship University of Karelia at the National Forest Forum
Petrozavodsk hosted the National Forest Forum, the principal event in timber industry of Russia. It unites 5 Federal Districts.
The Forum had four platforms: “Timber Complex of Russia”, “Efficiency of State Forest Management. Conservation and Protection of Forests”, “Forest Riches for the People”, “Hunting and Hunting Infrastructure”. At the Forum businessmen, scientists and politicians discussed vital problems of forest complex and drew up proposals for their solution.
The representatives of PetrSU took part in the Forum.
The Rector of PetrSU Anatoly Voronin took part at the plenary meeting “Forest to the Benefit of the Country and Citizens”. The Director of the Institute of Forestry, Mining and Construction Sciences Vadim Kostukevich presented his report at the “Timber Complex of Russia” session. The participants of the Forum discussed training specialists for timber industries, forestry legislation, the strategy of the development of timber complex in Karelia, cluster approach to its development and many other issues aimed at the efficient use of forests as the national treasure of Russia.
The National Forest Forum is held under the aegis of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation. The Forum has already taken place in Izhevsk, Khanty-Mansiysk, Khabarovsk, Barnaul, while the final stage will take place in Moscow in September.
