Petrozavodsk State University, the Flagship University of the Republic of Karelia, hosted the delegation from the Fujian Province (China), which came to the Republic of Karelia with an official visit.
PetrSU representatives took part in different activities during the week of the Fujian Province in Karelia. Professors and scientists attended the business presentation of the opportunities of cooperation between Karelia and Fujian in the area of energy, tourism, food, automobile, and mining industries.
Students from the Institute of Foreign Languages, Institute of Physics and Technologies, and the Institute of Economics and Law volunteered at the events.
The Vice-Rector for International Affairs Marina Grozdeva, the Head of the Department of Innovation and Production Olga Derbeneva, representatives of innovative enterprises met the delegation from China at the IT-Park of PetrSU.
The delegation consisted of the members of the Fujian Province Government, employees of special departments and business representatives.
Marina Grozdeva welcomed the Chinese guests on behalf of PetrSU Rector Anatoly Voronin and highlighted that cooperation with Fujian has a very positive dynamic.
Over the last year and a half delegations from the Republic of Karelia, which included representatives of PetrSU, have made several visits to the Province.
The University has signed the Memorandum of Understanding with Fuzhou University and Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University. These documents stipulate visits and exchange of students and postgraduates for studying and research, as well as the exchange of teachers for conducting joint research, expertise exchange, and organization of visiting lectures.
Now we can see the first results of this cooperation, as on September five students from PetrSU are going to Fuzhou University to study the Chinese language there for a year.“The University is actively involved in the partnership of the regions – the Republic of Karelia and the Fujian Province. We discuss with colleagues from China different forms of further cooperation.
It is always important for Petrozavodsk State University to establish relations with business and enterprises. We hope to build mutually beneficial relations with the business community, and thanks to it we will find reliable partners,” said Marina Grozdeva.
Olga Derbeneva told about innovations and developments that PetrSU can offer to its potential partners. She highlighted that almost half of all innovative enterprises of our region are small innovative enterprises founded by the University. Their main activity of the SMEs is to get commercial benefit from the intellectual property of the University. Today there are 34 such enterprises.
The Chinese delegation learned about the activities of such companies as the Opti-soft, Budgetary Monitoring Center, Student Design Bureau, Inertial Navigation Systems, and Unitronica.
The visit was held within the framework of the Flagship University Development Program and the Agreement on Cooperation between the Republic of Karelia and the Fujian Province.
