The Federal Service for Intellectual Property of Russia awarded Petrozavodsk State University a patent of invention for the “Selection method of cows and bulls for disease resistance according to somatic cells count in milk”.

The authors of the project are the employees of the Department of Zootechnics, Fish Farming, Agronomy and Land Management of the Institute of Biology, Ecology and Agricultural Technologies: the Associate Professor Irina Kolmyk, Natalia Grishina and a graduate of the Department, senior zootechnician of the Megrega stud farm Pavel Kalinin. The head of the project is Professor Anatoly Bolgov. 

This is the second patent received by the Department in the last 5 years. The research work that resulted in the patent has been carried out in the framework of the Flagship University Development Program.
