The International Trout Forum “Modern Technologies. Safety and Legal Regulation” featured roundtable discussion “Aquaculture. Innovations. The World and Russian Practices of Aquaculture”.

The participants discuss the latest achievements in world aquaculture, domestic capabilities for forming a componential basis of compound feed for salmonid fishes, prospects for development of fish seed, equipment for commercial fishery and fish farming.

One of the topical problems is the development and production of import-substituting technological equipment for industrial fish farming. Petrozavodsk State University, the Flagship University of the Republic of Karelia, presented its developments in this area.

Evgeny Tikhonov, the Associate Professor of the Department of General Technical Subjects of the Institute of Forestry, Mining and Construction Sciences, head of Student Design Bureau of PetrSU, told about the developments of the University that have reached the stage of serial production and are demanded by fish farms in Karelia and Leningrad Oblast.

“Our developments involve several technological operations. There are floating crafts of various modifications that allow transporting cargo, people, and equipment on the water. There are technological equipment, i.e. various modular pontoon platforms, as well as sorting machines. They are used at almost 20 enterprises. Currently, we are developing equipment that oxygenates the water and help develop fish farming with recirculation systems,” said Evgeny Tikhonov.

“Assembly” of the equipment is done at the Engineering Park of the Institute of Forestry, Mining and Construction Sciences of PetrSU established purposefully for implementation of intellectual potential of Petrozavodsk University.

Evgeny Tikhonov also noted that the design and implementation of the developments heavily involve students who present the results of their scientific work in their theses.

The organizers of the event are the Federal Fishery Agency, the Government of the Republic of Karelia, National Agency of Social Communications.
