The agreement defines the areas for cooperation. Among them, the project of development of engineering education in the framework of «CDIO Academy", the development of distance learning in the field of innovation and engineering, joint seminars, Master’s training at PetrSU, extra training for managers and faculty members of Russian universities, programs of additional education.

"I am pleased that PetrSU was one of the first universities with which Skolkovo Tech signed a cooperation agreement. For us it is very important because we are dedicated to work with universities, leaders in the field of education, research and innovation. We know that PetrSU is one of the leading universities in the North West, and on many issues and areas we can develop a partnership with them, " said vice-president of the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology Michael Magkov.

At a meeting with a representative of Skolkovo Tech in the IT-park of PetrSU, the participants discussed the roadmap of planned activities. Petrozavodsk State University was represented by Head of innovation and production O. Derbeneva, Head of administrative and legal management I. Pyeshkova, director of the Center for collective use of scientific equipment of PetrSU, head of information and publishing A. Shtykov, director of the Student business incubator A. Konovalov, deputy director of the Institute of Continuing Education E. Ignatovich, Head of the sector of coordination of innovation and technology centers, and small innovative enterprises K. Gostev, deputy Dean of the Faculty of Physical Engineering N. Yershov and assistant professor of industrial vehicles and Geodesy T. Vinokourov.

According to M. Magkov, one of the main objectives of Skolkovo Tech is not so much research and innovation, but rather the creation of a portal, where Russian and foreign scientists would be able to work together to engage in collaborative innovation.

"Today we got acquainted with the programs of Skolkovo Tech:”CDIO Academy "- an academy of integrated approach to engineering education for teachers of engineering disciplines; graduate programs and short-term activities (winter and summer schools); distance learning courses, accessible free of charge for the students. Cooperation with Skolkovo will allow us to offer our students and teachers not only courses and programs of Skolkovo Tech, but also those of the leading universities of the world. Teachers of the University now have the opportunity to learn from the best foreign educational practices by connecting them with the best Russian ones, " said O. Derbeneva.

A. Konovalov also noted the importance of cooperation: "As one of the objectives of the SBI is to develop creativity and innovation activities of young people, we are always looking for new programs and tools to implement it. Now PetrSU students have the opportunity to do a Master’s at Skolkovo Tech, the center of innovation activity in Russia. In addition, we understand that teachers must develop and use new forms and methods in the educational process, in independent work and in research work. It is also envisaged in this agreement. "

Already this year, the teachers responsible for the development of educational programs in the field of engineering education at the Faculty of Physics and Technology and the Institute of Forestry, engineering and building sciences of PetrSU (N. Ershov and T. Vinokourov) will go to study in Skolkovo Tech, where they will learn new approaches in the development of educational programs, based on international standards promoted by the leading universities in America and Europe.
