Project "Green Arctic Building"
Project KO 1089 Green Arctic Building (GrAB) has become a month’s project (March 2021) of the program "Kolarctic".
One of the main areas of the project is improving the sustainability of urban regions and buildings in the Far North.
The model houses have over 250 sensors, measuring humidity and temperature.
Large-scale construction, design, launch of model facilities are behind, but the most interesting is yet to come. As for now, the project team is studying many things: the quality of the urban environment indoors and outdoors, efficient energy systems, modern construction technologies, and fulfills thermal imaging of buildings using UAVs. Researchers are conducting a comparative analysis of "green" standards and regulations in the construction sector in Russia and the Northern European countries. This work will result in a set of recommendations for Arctic construction.
In the future, the model facilities will serve as laboratories for research in the field of sustainable and energy efficient construction technologies, as well as a place for workshops, seminars and meetings with the possibility of showing the implementation of new "green" solutions.
