Petrozavodsk State University took part in the 4th International Exhibition and Conference "Bioindustry" held in St. Petersburg on October 15-17 at the St. Petersburg International Forum of Health.

Bio-industry 2014 is an annual industry event, a complex of specialized exhibitions, scientific, educational and business areas, which demonstrated biotechnological solutions aimed at the development of the biosphere as a comfortable human environment.

As part of the congress program and the exhibition, special attention was given to the most promising areas of biotechnology industry, such as biomedicine and biopharmaceuticals.

Petrozavodsk State University, presented innovative projects in 7 areas: biotechnology solutions for health, food security, the resumption of wildlife resources, information and communication technologies in the biosphere.

PetrSU’s innovative projects and developments participated in the contest of innovative biotechnological solutions, which took place during the exhibition, and were highly appreciated by the competition commission.

Gold medals were awarded to the projects "Automated fry complex "Aquavita" (autoregulation of oxygen and temperature in cages)", "New biological activity of derivatives of quinoline N-oxide" and "Technology of modifying the physical and chemical properties of nanoscale biological objects in the plasma of inert gases for applications in medicine and pharmacology".

The projects "New nonlinear electromyography parameters in the diagnosis of schizophrenia" and "A method of diagnosis and prevention of chronorhythmic boby disorders in conditions of light pollution by using hormones and epiphysis peptides" were awarded a silver medal.

Projects "Automatic Early Warning System on environmental hazards and emergencies in the waters" and "FishEnergy – a biofuel from fish waste" were awarded diplomas.

The business program included conferences, workshops and discussions on issues of infrastructure for development of biotechnology, development and implementation of priority investment and innovation projects, solving urgent social, economic, energy, environmental and other problems of the country by means of biotechnology tools, improve the legal, economic, information and organizational framework for the development of biotechnology.

The project, organized by "Expoforum-International", was officially supported by the Government of St. Petersburg, the Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Ministry of Health, Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Education and Science and the Ministry of Agriculture.
